Mark is the CEO of FSD Africa. At the beginning of his career (1989–2003), Mark worked in investment banking in the City of London, advising growing companies on mergers and acquisitions and capital raising. He has now spent more than a decade involved in the development of the financial sector in Africa.
From 2004 to 2009, he served as CEO of FinMark Trust, based in Johannesburg. He then returned to London, where he worked as an independent consultant specializing in financial sector development in emerging markets, primarily in Africa. He joined CDC, the UK’s development finance institution, as Director of Investment Innovation from 2011 to 2012, and relocated to Nairobi to establish FSD Africa in December 2012.
