As Chief Financial Markets Officer at FSD Africa, he leads capital markets development across 33 countries in Africa and chairs Frontclear’s Technical Assistance Facility.
Evans has over 25 years of global experience in investments, financial markets, and development finance. This spans sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East & North Africa (MENA), North America, Europe and South Asia covering over 40 countries.
Evans and team have pioneered the green and gender bonds markets development in Africa and have helped raise over $1 billion for sovereign and corporate issuers across Africa. Evans and team have also led on disruptive market infrastructure projects such as EABX (the bond exchange) and Ethiopia Securities Exchange (ESX). Evans is leading on Local Currency Solution for MDB Portfolio Transfer initiative as part of MDB Capital Adequacy Framework (CAF) reforms by G20.
Evans previously worked with the IFC/World Bank Group (Head of Efficient Securities Markets Institutional Development) and AIG Global Investment Group (Head of Investments/Chief Investment Officer) where he headed a team that built and managed US$1 billion assets and a total return fund that was pioneer investor in most African markets. At AIG, Evans developed the first Government Bond Index in Kenya and a widely followed equity index (AIG 27 Share index).
Evans holds Doctor of Business Administration degree, two Masters’ degrees and CPA qualifications. A global thought leader, Evans has written op-eds for prestigious publications such as the Financial Times, held numerous TV interviews including with CNN International and facilitated at high level international conferences. He has also been a visiting lecturer at the University of Cape Town.
